At the tender age of eight, a Brooklyn and Haitian born artist was introduced to a hip hop legend
and influencer named Slick Rick. Later, she would be given the name Santa; which is short for
Santamilla. “Santamilla was what my friends in Haiti would call the female stem of a chocolate
bud.” Being introduced to a vast array of music prompted the experimentation of music in both
French and Creole. "It definitely broadened my fan base," says the award-winning artist.
Santa had her first production and record deal with Grammy Award winning
producer, Fabrizio Sotti. Santa later went on to release independent songs and mix tapes in
French, Creole and English. The mixtape “Je’m Appelle Santa” (My Name is Santa) was soon
released and gained Santa wide notoriety; which prompted a promo tour through Miami, South
Carolina, North Carolina, New York, and Boston performing alongside some of the biggest acts in
the Haitian and French community.
Independently, Santa has released four mixtapes along with her debut album “The
Delivery“. The first single off the project, “No Panties”, received over 400,000 downloads
worldwide. Her second single “Art of Seduction” has become a national and international hit;
receiving over 1,000 radio plays a week in the U.S along with being on rotation in Germany,
France, Czech Republic, Italy, Canada and Africa. “Art of Seduction” quickly jumped to #4 in
less then a week on the Urban Music Charts and received over 8 nominations from several
independent music award shows. These nominations lead to a win as “Best Female Rapper” at
the Underground Music Awards.
In addition to being an artist, Santa has extended her outreach by teaming up with New York’s
Power 105.1 and select industry insiders such as JadaKiss, Ralph McDaniels, DJ Clue, Red Café,
and Kid Capri, to organize and fully fund events to raise money for non-profit organizations that
help shelter, cloth, educate, and feed children in Haiti.
Giving back is a sense of empowerment for Santa who wears many hats in the entertainment
industry, and feels “Every women is strong and has a gift, I just choose to use my music as a
way to express my gift
